A miracle drug in a spray can that can do something that will amaze you. That sounds like a vague teleshop advert. VuPlex plastic cleaner and polish is such a product. Spray on, rub a little and you can see through it again. Yes, solid...

The fact is that clear plastic ages quickly under the influence of sunlight and weather. Small scratches make it ugly and dull. Whether plexiglass hatches or the windows in the sprayhood, after a few years they no longer look like it. And in the case of the spray hood, that inevitably means reduced visibility. The surface of these plastics is always slightly porous which makes it dirty. And no matter how hard a modern plastic is, small scratches it will always get: from salt, sand, cleaning, you name it. Initially, the scratches may be so small that you don't see them right away, but they do dull the material.

OK, now for the promised solution: VuPlex. First of all, let us say that we are not so quick to believe in miracle remedies. And frankly prefer not to spend too much time on this kind of stuff either, because so much rubbish is on offer. However: this was recommended to us by someone who normally doesn't sell crap. And because the product is primarily developed for aviation-and there you don't get away with crap products at all. VuPlex comes in a spray can and can be used on all plastics and smooth surfaces. It cleans, polishes a little and makes the material antistatic, making it less likely to get dirty. It makes clear plastic bright again by polishing and filling small scratches.

 

We got to work with it on a few different surfaces and you know what: it works! Dull plexiglass that you can hardly see through gets clear by spraying a little stuff on it, rubbing it, and done - it really does.

There is a limit to it though, because really old plastic that is completely damaged and scratched, you will never get it right again. However, on a spray hood whose windows are just about milky weathered, it works great. Those just become beautifully clear again. Even plastic headlights of a car that had become dull and ugly are like new again. It takes no effort and the results are amazing.

You will have to repeat the treatment every three or sometimes even two months, though. Because it remains a tool, it obviously does not repair.

 

Conclusion

VuPlex works. Simple and effective. Of course, there is a limit to how much weathering and damage the product can handle. But you will be really surprised when you see how much the clear plastic refurbishes. And these are not empty sales pitches!
