For my aircraft

Is VuPlex certified for aircraft use?

No, VuPlex® is not certified as such. It is up to individual manufacturers to recommend its use. There are no regulations on the use of cleaners on acrylic windows. Our best advertisement is the fact that VuPlex® is used in Australia by Qantas on Bombardier Dash-8 aircraft.

Does VuPlex have a military specification (mil-spec PP 560)?

This mil-spec is the US designation for the care and maintenance of aircraft acrylic windows and is followed as a standard in some parts of the world. VuPlex® meets and even exceeds this specification, even though it does not have an actual military specification.

Can the use of VuPlex lead to hairline cracks?

No, it is actually designed to slow down this process. Hairline cracks are caused by moisture penetrating the surface. When the aircraft is at a high altitude, the temperature drops below freezing. This causes the moisture to expand and cause small cracks. VuPlex® is designed to seal the pores of the plastic, preventing moisture from penetrating the plastic and preventing cracks. In addition, VuPlex® has a water-repellent effect.

Hairline cracks can also be caused by using the wrong chemicals when cleaning the surface.

Does VuPlex prevent salt formation on the windows/tube hood of my boat?

Yes, VuPlex® seals the surface of plastic and is water-repellent. When the water dries up, the remaining salt crystals do not adhere to the surface. They are easily removed with clean water.

How come my acrylic/plastic windows become milky and opaque?

Acrylic (perspex, plexiglass) is very sensitive to scratches. Especially in water sports, sand and dried salt crystals will quickly abrade the surface if not cleaned properly. Moreover, salt can settle in the pores and scratch. When the salt dries in, it causes reduced brightness together with the micro-scratches.

Clear (new) PVC/acrylic is originally porous and, over time, dirt and salt accumulate and this leads to unsafe and clouded vision.

How can VuPlex make windows clear again?

VuPlex® works on boats in four ways:

  1. It removes salt and other contaminants from pores and scratches using safe, chemical substances that cannot damage the plastic/plastic.
  2. It has an anti-static effect
  3. It applies a polymer film that repels water and salt
  4. It increases scratch resistance
